Obituary of Wendy Hoa-My Truong Ly
Please share a memory of Wendy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Wendy My-Hoa Truong Ly (張美華) passed peacefully at age 64, with her daughter and son by her side on March 22, 2021, from complications related to coronavirus after battling courageously for several weeks.
She was a strong woman - an immigrant from Vietnam and a breast cancer survivor. She raised two children into strong, independent young adults, and had always made sure that they were both given the best opportunities and filled their lives with enriching experiences even if it meant her weekends were spent chauffeuring between Chinese school, art classes, and Taekwondo. She lived joyfully and completely as a beloved wife, mother, sister, daughter, aunt and friend. She loved and cared deeply for everyone she came in contact with. She was an avid TVB fan, loved to travel and try new experiences. She was a passionate cook and baker with a genuine love for great food and perfecting new recipes; she showered those she loved with meals and pastries. She was especially proud of her homemade mooncakes and would prepare its ingredients months in advance of the August Moon every year. She and her recipes brought joy and happiness to all who knew her.
For her family, she was a pillar of strength, reason, and love. She encouraged and created family traditions and was the person to call in every tiny moment of pain (and happiness too) and always knew how to resolve petty family conflicts. Her compassion, generosity, selflessness, natural sense of cheerfulness, and steadfast love for her family were her hallmarks. She is survived by her husband Minh, daughter Samantha and son Steven. She was committed to the banking industry for over 30 years and worked at Excela (formerly Shawmut Bank and then Bank of America), and leaves behind many lifelong friendships and decades of cheerful memories. She will be dearly missed by her numerous sisters, brothers, cousins, nieces, nephews, and countless friends and colleagues.
All friends and relatives of Wendy are invited to join the family to celebrate and honor her life. In-person memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday morning, March 31 from 8:00 am to 10:00 am EST at Wing Fook Funeral Home, 13 Gerald St., Boston.
